Glare

Privacy policy

Last updated October 14, 2026

In short. Glare reads a question from a page only when you press Smart Capture. The question text goes to our server and to OpenAI so an explanation can be written, and your email address goes with it so we know whose account made the request. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Who we are

Glare AI (“Glare”, “we”, “us”) is a Chrome extension that explains practice questions, mainly on LawHub (lawhub.org), together with this website, glareai.app. This policy explains what the extension collects, why, and who else receives it.

Questions about this policy: ahnyuofm@gmail.com.

What Glare collects

Your account

You sign in with an email address and password, or with Google. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. We receive your email address and, if you use Google sign-in, basic profile details that Google shares with us. For email and password accounts, Firebase stores a protected form of your password. We cannot read it. Glare never sees your Google password.

The question you capture

When you press Smart Capture, Glare reads the text of the passage, question and answer choices on the LawHub page and sends it to our server together with your email address.

If no LawHub tab is open, Glare looks at the addresses and titles of your open tabs on your device to work out where to capture from. It reads the page you are viewing, or a tab you pick from a list, and shows you the captured text first. That text is sent only after you press Analyze with AI. The list of your tabs is never sent to us.

Follow-up chat

When you ask a follow-up, Glare sends your follow-up question, the earlier messages in that conversation (the question, the explanation and any previous follow-ups) and a conversation identifier to our server so the answer has context.

Stored in your browser

Glare keeps the following in Chrome’s extension storage on your device: whether you are signed in, your email address, your sign-in token, the current analysis and chat, and your light or dark display setting. Logging out clears your signed-in state and saved conversation. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored.

Server logs

Our server runs on Vercel. Standard request logs record that a request happened and can include the start of the question text or follow-up that was sent. Your IP address is visible to our hosting provider as part of normal web traffic.

Shared answer cache

To answer faster, we keep a shared copy of each explanation in a Google Cloud Firestore database. If a question has been analyzed before, the stored explanation is returned instead of generating a new one. A cache entry contains the question text, the explanation and the messages that produced it, and is looked up by a fingerprint (hash) of the question text. It does not contain your email address and is not linked to your account.

What we do not collect

Glare does not collect your browsing history, does not read pages in the background, and does not include advertising or analytics trackers. It only reads a page when you press Smart Capture.

How we use information

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, build advertising profiles, or use it to decide credit or lending.
